Aberdeen Energy & Innovation Parks set for new Grub offering

Aberdeen CafeGrub – a contemporary fresh food outlet – will open at the end of February in The Hub building at the Aberdeen Energy & Innovation Parks. It will be the second Grub café to be opened in Aberdeen by young entrepreneur, Stuart Ross.

The 26-year old former Aberdeen University student opened his first outlet in 2010 on the edge of the campus at 149 The Spital, and following a successful first two years of trading he is now launching his second café in the city.

The Hub was opened last year and is situated on the Energy Park, immediately adjacent to the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre. The first new development delivered under the joint venture between Buccleuch Property and Scottish Enterprise, the Hub provides office accommodation, and now boasts Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce’s new headquarters.

The new Grub café at The Hub will have space for approximately 60 covers and will include two private meeting rooms, which are available for hire, as well as a WiFi touch down zone for those on the move. The Grub operation will ramp up to eventually include a full catering delivery service to businesses on the parks and in the local area.

Stuart Ross said: “I am very excited about opening the second Grub café in Aberdeen. The Hub is located in the heart of the Energy Park, allowing us to be close to local businesses in order to provide them with fresh, local produce.”

“Following our discussions with some of the businesses in the area it was clear there is a demand for a fresh food outlet and Grub will certainly fill that gap. As well as providing an informal environment for people to enjoy, there are also two private rooms next to the cafe for more business-focussed meetings.”

“We’ll be catering for everything from coffee through to informal lunches with a takeaway menu which will include pastries, yogurt pots and smoothies for breakfast, freshly made soups, sandwiches and paninis for lunch and Illy coffee served throughout the day.”

Steph Dorward of Buccleuch Property said: “We have been working hard to identify a suitable food and drink offering for the Parks and Grub is a first class proposition, which we’re sure will be a popular addition.”

John Maclennan, Project Manager at Scottish Enterprise said: “Grub is an exciting company from one of Aberdeen’s young entrepreneurs, and this new outlet means that local businesses and park occupiers will soon be able to enjoy a wide range of fresh, contemporary produce to either take-away or enjoy within The Hub at the Energy Park.”
