Further Acclaim For York Council HQ Development

_DSC1428Buccleuch Property’s celebrated York Council development has been commemorated by a special plaque in recognition of a prestigious award.

The development, in conjunction with S Harrison, won Modern Railway magazine’s National Railway Heritage Restoration Award in last November, with the plaque unveiled on March 26th 2014.

The award was received for the work done in transforming the former York station from a deteriorating Grade II listed building into York Council’s celebrated £32 million headquarters. The first class sustainable offices house 1,400 council staff and was voted ‘most meritorious restoration project’ for safeguarding the original 1840s station building.

To mark the achievement, chairman and judges of the awards and representatives from Modern Railways magazine unveiled the plaque at the council’s West Offices.

This is the latest in a raft of awards won by the development including the RICS Pro-Yorkshire Awards’ Project of the Year, a Green Apple Gold Award presented by Doreen Lawrence in recognition of West Offices’ sustainable credentials, The Lord Mayor’s Award in the York Design Awards with particular praise for the excellent ‘urban design’ of the building, a Property Insider Award for restoration and refurbishment and a LABC (Local Authority Building Control) award.
